Favorable investment climate generated by the Maldonado government is highlighted

The Nationalist councillor Santiago Pérez Odino highlighted that the presentation of 21 investment projects in Maldonado responds to the climate of confidence favourable to investment, which has been generated by the government of Mayor Enrique Antía. He stressed that it is the responsibility of the Departmental Council to analyse each of the initiatives responsibly, thinking about the urban development of the department and the generation of labour.
The departmental legislator said at the last session of the Board that, "a little more than a year and a half into the government, we are seeing the fruits of good management, which is giving confidence to investors in the region, who are investing again in development projects in Maldonado."

He added that "despite having an underfunded City Hall with major problems, this government has tackled different fronts in terms of construction and work" and cited as an example "Route 39, the Convention Center and housing."

He also highlighted the works undertaken to repair the damage caused by the storms, the implementation of the “Jornales solidarios” (Solidarity Day Labor) program and the investment made to attract tourism to the department, which was reflected in a large influx of visitors, he stressed.

Pérez Odino pointed out that “the Municipality is also generating job opportunities” and, in this sense, he pointed out that a series of construction projects are now being proposed, in order to serve some five thousand unemployed workers in the sector. “The departmental government is fulfilling its promises, presenting 17 projects to the Departmental Council of Maldonado… They are important projects, with more than 243 thousand square meters of investment, with residential and corporate buildings,” he added.

He stressed that the Board will have a “great responsibility” in analyzing each of the projects presented, in order to promote “urban development in Punta del Este and Maldonado and create genuine sources of employment.”

He indicated that there are also "four other projects that will be started soon, so we can say that we have 21 projects for the department of Maldonado."

Among those that will begin shortly, he highlighted the importance of the one that will be carried out on a project that had been halted for more than four years at Roosevelt and Parada 16, "since it not only generates labor but will change the area completely," he said.

He also indicated that there are seven other projects under consultation at the level of the Urban Planning Department, including the International Hospital to be built in the La Barra area, and an "important" hotel.

He considered that all these proposals respond to "the confidence generated by the departmental government. It is a good management, which transmits confidence, with clear rules of the game," he said.
