06/11/2016“Statistics indicate that there are about three thousand people per ship, so we expect about 150 thousand people via cruise ships. Last year, 65 calls were planned and 60 were made. There is a 5% decrease this season,” said Carlos Ferreira, head of the port terminal.
According to FM Gente de Maldonado, Ferreira said that experts indicate that "a low point has been reached and that growth will begin next season."
70% OF RESERVATIONS IN MOORINGS
Ferreira announced that 70% of the moorings at the Port of Punta del Este have already been booked for the summer and stressed that “there is a very good level of enquiries, especially from our Argentine users. We are very much looking forward to reaching the end of the year with a full port.”
He confirmed that there are currently around 540 moorings, both on the dock and at the pier.
