The Las Anitas bullfighter won the title in the USA, previously he was Grand Champion of the Expo Prado and distinguished as the best in South AmericaKamikaze, a Polled Hereford bull bred by the Las Anitas bullfighter from Durazno –owned by the Alfonso family–, was chosen as the best Hereford male in the world in a competition held by the specialized Hereford Breeder portal. The verdict was announced last Sunday at the Dallas livestock exhibition, Texas, United States. The Las Anitas bullfighter had been chosen Grand Champion Polled Hereford at the Expo Prado 2014 and subsequently he was positioned as the best in South America, moving on to the final stage of the competition, where he faced four other outstanding bulls, the best from each continent where the breed is bred. The silver medal was won by an American bull (ECR Who Maker 210 ET); and the bronze medal was won by a bullfighter born in Denmark (Moeskaer Pacman 1417). The judges were an expert from each continent plus the public vote through the portal. Kamikaze also has an important page written in the history of genetics marketing in Uruguay, since within the framework of the Expo Prado he achieved the record price of the historic show organized by the Rural Association of Uruguay. On that occasion, 50% of the breeding stock was sold for US$ 55.000, raising the total price of the specimen to US$ 110.000. The purchase was made by Estancia Los Molles, a firm with Argentine capital located on Route 26, on the border of the departments of Paysandú and Tacuarembó. From the United States, Fernando Alfonso, one of the principals of Las Anitas, highlighted to El Observador the great achievement obtained and emphasized the very high level of Uruguayan genetics in Hereford and also in the other breeds. He also pointed out that Kamikaze is leaving a very important offspring, demonstrating that he not only stands out for his physical conformation but also for what he transmits to his children. And he announced that several of these calves will be competing in the Expo Durazno track, the most important cattle exhibition in the interior of the country, which will take place next March. Alfonso confirmed the strong interest of Hereford breeders from the United States, Canada and Australia in Uruguayan genetics. “We are not just talking about average herds but about top-notch herds that ask for our genetics. Uruguayan genetics are at the highest level,” he stressed. SOURCE: elobservador.com.uy
