Uruguayan bartender Bruno Pereira has invented what could be a solution for those who spend long hours with their mate. It is Kokko, a mate that manages the consumption of yerba mate and also works as a yerbera.

The Pereira project, developed in collaboration with the "Emprenur" network at the University of the Republic (Udelar), is finalizing its business plan and will be available for sale soon, according to the Infonegocios website.

Kokko is a silicone mate covered in leather, with a manual ceramic system, which divides the container into four parts and has a lid, also made of silicone. Yerba is placed in each part and when one of the sections is washed, a 90° turn is made to be able to continue drinking with new and dry yerba.

If the person does not want to drink any more, the mate is covered and the remaining sections are left dry to be drunk later, without the need to prepare it again.

The design of this container also helps those who are poor at priming or are just starting out with this national tradition, because the liquid goes directly into the bombilla and not the "montañita," which makes it take longer to clean.

According to Pereira, Kokko would cost between $600 and $650, which means it would be $150 more expensive than a silicone mate, but the price would be recovered in the long term due to the savings in yerba mate and not having to buy a yerba mate cup.
