About Cocal
The Federation of Organizing Entities for Congresses and Related Events of Latin America (COCAL) was established in 1985 as a non-profit association, made up of Professional Congress Organizers (OPC's) from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, specialized in congresses and events.
The main objectives of the federation are:
Unite the efforts of the countries of the Region to improve the performance of the congress industry in Latin America, Portugal and Spain;
represent its members internationally;
establish relations of mutual cooperation between its members,
reach agreements, develop activities that help the sector and promote and protect the principles of professional and commercial ethics.
COCAL plays an important educational role in the training of Professional Congress Organizers in the Region.
Through the annual seminar for new professionals and the congress, its members can update information and analyse the evolution of the federation.
Both the seminar and the congress will take place in March in different Iberian and Latin American countries.
The federation's goal is to maximize business opportunities in the region by providing information on congress organizers and details of Latin American events.
COCAL also provides a calendar of regional events, with complete information on dates and venues.
Since 2005, the event has produced an annual document entitled “Statistics of the Events Market in Latin America”, which provides its members with an accurate overview of activity on the continent.
In 2015, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau joined the organization as a new partner.
