If you like fashion and also ecology, then this is definitely for you, although many will probably not like the designs you will see below. Tommy Hilfiger has just unveiled two new jackets that have built-in solar cells. There is a model for men and another for women, and both generate energy from the sunlight that the cells absorb while we are walking down the street or sitting in the sun somewhere for example. The upper part also consists of a hydrophobic fabric to repel water and liquids in general. The garment can be used to generate energy and thus recharge our smartphone at any time. It is also worth mentioning that 50% of the profits produced by this project are donated to the Fresh Air Foundation in New York, which helps children who do not have a home or other essential resources to lead a decent life. The garment is officially known as the Solar Panel Jacket. The solar cells it carries are flexible and generate enough energy to recharge our smartphone up to 4 times. The jacket also has a removable battery pack, which has two USB connectors to charge up to two devices at once. If you plan to use the jacket on a day with little sun, then you can temporarily remove the solar cells.
The company that developed the cells is Pvilion, which generally works with various portable products that collect solar energy. Tommy Hilfiger sells both models for $600 each, and as we already said, half of the money earned from the project goes to the Fresh Air Foundation in New York City.
