Uruguay will host the General Assembly of the Pan American Sports Organization (Odepa), which will take place between April 25 and 26 in Punta del Este. The facilities of the Punta del Este Convention Center will witness an event in which, among other things, the new authorities of the organization will be elected, currently presided over by Dr. Julio César Maglione since April 2015.
The Assembly will bring together representatives of the Olympic Committees of 41 countries in the Americas, as well as presidents of the Pan American and World Confederations of the sports that make up the Olympic programme.
But as if that were not enough, the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the German Thomas Bach, confirmed his presence along with Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad al Sabah, current president of the World Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and also president of Olympic Solidarity.
Looking ahead, there will be government authorities from Peru, Argentina and Japan, presenting the progress of preparations for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, respectively.
