Volkswagen to launch sustainable combi on the market

  • hace 2 años

The iconic 'Combi' returns and is now electric and automatic.
An important icon that marked the 70's era was the famous Kombiwagen, better known in Mexico as Volkswagen combis, vehicles that were characterized by having a rear engine and that surely one of your parents or grandparents had.

Although this vehicle was born in 1950, it gained fame in the 60's and 70's, date when they were painted in different colors and were very attractive to members of that time. It was in 2013 when Volkswagen suspended its commercialization due to safety concerns, such as the lack of airbags and anti-lock brakes. Upon its release, Volkswagen sold for the last time a limited edition model of 600 units. Being a symbol of counterculture, in 2017, Volkswagen revealed a new concept of this fully electric model, called the ID Buzz, and confirmed that it would go into production and arrive at dealerships by 2022.

Features of the new electric combiLike many new cars, the ID Buzz will have a touch screen, which will be in charge of controlling the car's functions instead of knobs or buttons.

This new version of the car will have augmented reality features and laser scanners on the roof to make the driving experience easier and will have 369 horsepower, so it will look nothing like the old combis.
Technology will be abundant in this combi, so Volkswagen will be betting on autonomous driving in this vehicle by the mid-2020s.

Its battery will provide approximately 600 kilometers of range per charge and can reach 80% of capacity if charged in 30 minutes. Another of the innovative features is that you will also be able to open the car with your phone instead of a traditional key. Incredible, don't you think?

The interior will also have plenty of space, with seats that can be rotated and moved using rails on the floor.

Passenger experience is also important to Volkswagen, so passengers will be able to configure the interior so that they have space to sleep comfortably when they are not driving.

The interior space will also be very spacious, with the vehicle having trunk space in both the back and front, so that there will be enough storage space for multi-day road trips.

In addition, the ID Buzz will be very fast, reaching a maximum speed of 160 kph and going from 0 to 96 kph in 5 seconds.

There are still three years left to witness this launch, but nowadays we can still see the classic models with retro touches of this vehicle on the streets, and nobody hesitates to take a photo when they find them.

What do you think? Do you prefer the classic model or the new, elegant and innovative version of the combi?
