The first world championship for exclusively electric cars organised by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) will take place in Punta del Este in less than two weeks. The third date of the 13-2014 tournament will stop at the main Uruguayan resort on December 2015, when the fast circuit designed between stops 13 and 2 of Playa Brava will be used. On Saturday afternoon, and with great expectation, the “show car” of the category was unpacked at the old ANCAP station in Gorlero. The car was on display there before a tour of several cities in southern Uruguay begins this week, including Montevideo. How it's goingFormula E successfully contested the first two dates of its inaugural tournament in the cities of Beijing (China) and Putrajaya (Malaysia). Based on the premise of bringing the public an environmentally friendly motorsport spectacle, it competes on urban circuits, located in the heart of some of the most iconic cities on the planet such as Buenos Aires, Miami, Berlin or London. Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi (Audi Sport-ABT) became the first winner and leads the championship by just three points over Briton Sam Bird (Virgin Racing), winner of the second date.
